Chelsea FC want to 26-year-old to replace Marcos Alonso – report
Chelsea FC are eager to sign Alex Telles to replace Marcos Alonso in the Blues side, according to a report in Portugal
Chelsea FC could swoop to sign FC Porto star Alex Telles to replace Marcos Alonso, according to a report in Portugal.
Portugese media outlet A Bola, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that Chelsea FC are monitoring the Brazil international.
The same article states that the Blues consider Telles the perfect replacement for Alonso after the Spanish defender’s difficult season.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC’s move for the 26-year-old could be impacted by their Fifa transfer ban.
Telles has scored one goal and has made five assists in 23 games in Liga NOS this season to help FC Porto challenge for the top-flight title.
The Brazilian full-back has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few campaigns.
Telles has netted six times in 119 games in all competitions during his three-season spell at FC Porto.
Chelsea FC signed Alonso in a £17m deal from Fiorentina in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The former Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland full-back scored six times in 31 games in their title-winning campaign under Antonio Conte in 2016-17.
Alonso has still featured in 25 of Chelsea FC’s 27 games in the Premier League this season but the Spanish full-back has struggled to maintain his high standards.
But the ex-Real Madrid defender has found himself exposed in Maurizio Sarri’s system.
