Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Chelsea FC v Malmo
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FC's home clash with Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday night
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to book their place in the Europa League last 16 by beating Malmo at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The Blues have found themselves under intense pressure in recent weeks following their stuttering form under Maurizio Sarri.
The west London side were thrashed 6-0 by Manchester City in the Premier League, before they were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC will now look to get past Swedish side Malmo as they look to try and take a step closer towards Europa League glory.
Former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen is tipping the Blues to claim a comfortable win ahead of their League Cup final showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “I expect Chelsea to warm up for Sunday’s League Cup Final with a comfortable win against Malmo.
“The Blues have won their last six home Europa League games scoring 17 times in the process and I take them to maintain that sequence against the Swedes.”
Chelsea FC will take on Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in the League Cup final at Wembley as they look to win their first trophy under Maurizio Sarri.
The Blues have struggled to string together consistent performances recently and they currently find themselves sixth in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
