BBC Sport pundit reveals his prediction for Crystal Palace v Man United
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Manchester United's clash with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Crystal Palace to claim a surprise 2-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils head into their midweek trip to London on the back of their goalless draw with Liverpool FC in the top flight on Sunday afternoon as they maintained their unbeaten run in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Manchester United’s draw caused them to drop out of the top four and down into fifth place in the table, with fourth-placed Arsenal currently ahead of the Red Devils.
Manchester United will be eager to swiftly return to winning ways this week, but former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson seems to think that Palace are set to cause an upset in Wednesday’s game at Selhurst Park.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “United’s injury problems from their draw with Liverpool weekend are going to affect the team that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can put out in this one.
“He dealt very well with what happened, but the game itself was very poor and Liverpool did not pose much of a threat.
“I just have a feeling that Palace will be different, and that they are going to surprise people here. They are playing well and they going to go for it attack-wise too.
“Michy Batshuayi is up and running after scoring against Leicester on Saturday, Wilfried Zaha is back from suspension, and I think they will cause United problems.”
Manchester United will be looking to finish in the top four this season after their poor start to the campaign under Jose Mourinho resulted in the Portuguese coach being sacked back in December.
The Red Devils will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the return leg of their Champions League last 16 clash next week after having lost the first leg 2-0 at Old Trafford.
