Mourinho had insisted in an interview in November that Manchester United could still secure a top-four spot by the end of the year despite their poor start to the season.
Match Of The Day host Lineker took to Twitter to remind Manchester United supporters of Mourinho’s comments after their 3-0 win secured a return to the top four.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Mourinho was right when he said @ManUtd would be back in the top 4 in the New Year.”

Manchester United will welcome Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash on Tuesday night.
