Jurgen Klopp gives latest Liverpool FC injury update ahead of Bayern tie
The Liverpool FC boss provides an injury update on James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum are still recovering from illness, while Fabinho picked up a niggle during training in Marbella.
The Merseyside outfit are currently enjoying a warm weather training camp in Spain as the title challengers look to capitalise on their FA Cup exit last month.
Liverpool FC are looking to recharge their batteries ahead of their meeting with Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash.
The Reds will take on the Bundesliga giants at Anfield next Tuesday as Klopp’s side look to reach the final for the second successive season.
Liverpool FC were 3-0 winners against Bournemouth last weekend thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah.
Milner and Wijnaldum earned praise from their manager after the pair produced impressive performances despite suffering from an illness against the Cherries.
Fabinho’s display was highlighted by BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy on Match Of The Day on Saturday night.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website at their Marbella training camp, Klopp gave an injury update:
“It’s how it is after games, you have a couple of problems.
“Millie and Gini still struggle with their illnesses, so they did a bit of work in the hotel. Fabinho felt [something] a little bit; it will not be a problem, but there was no reason for him to be out today.
“Hopefully he can train tomorrow and if not then the day after that. None of them are serious, all will be fine.”
Liverpool FC are in second place in the Premier League table but level on points with leaders Manchester City.
The Reds will take on Manchester United in their next top-flight fixture at Old Trafford on Sunday 24 February.
