Alisson sends message to Liverpool FC fans about title race
The Liverpool FC goalkeeper believes the club's supporters will have a role to play in the title race
Alisson Becker believes Liverpool FC’s supporters can play a big part in the Premier League title race.
The Reds are in second place but level on points with leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have played one game less than their title rivals after the Citizens were 6-0 winners against Chelsea FC last time out.
Alisson has kept 14 clean sheet in his debut season in the Premier League season, which is more than any other top-flight goalkeeper.
The Merseyside outfit will make the daunting trip to Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday 24 February.
Six of Liverpool FC’s remaining 11 fixtures will be at Anfield after their clash at Old Trafford.
Brazil international Alisson believes their home supporters can play a big role in the remaining months of the title race.
“We are excited about [battling for the title],” Alisson told Liverpool FC’s website.
“We are very focused on this. We are doing this for the supporters, for the manager, for us and for everyone who is inside the project.
“This team is different.
“I think we can do something special here. But we need to put the feet on the ground and keep working, working, working.
“The supporters are a great part of this team. They cannot go to the pitch and play but… they can do something to move us, to charge us to do something more on the pitch.”
Liverpool FC signed Alisson in a £67m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Alisson experienced the Anfield atmosphere first half when the Italian side lost 5-2 to Liverpool FC in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final last term.
The Reds have only lost one game in the Premier League this season following a 2-1 defeat by Manchester City at the start of January.
