Fabinho has admitted it is difficult for Liverpool FC to explain their recent dip in form.

The Reds have been unable to seize their chance to take complete control of the Premier League title race in recent weeks to leave the door ajar for Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool FC had the opportunity to move seven points clear of Manchester City last week after the Citizens lost at Newcastle, but the Reds could only muster a 1-1 draw with Leicester.

To compound their misery, the Merseyside outfit were held to a 1-1 stalemate at West Ham on Monday after Manchester City had reduced the gap with a 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Liverpool FC have only managed to score two goals in their last two Premier League games and their front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have struggled to find their groove.

Fabinho, who moved to Liverpool FC in a £39m deal from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window, is at a loss to explain their recent poor performances.

“We have confidence,” Fabinho told ESPN.

“We enjoyed a brilliant December, which was almost perfect, but now we have had this dip.

“It is difficult to explain why this has happened.”

Fabinho added that Liverpool FC need to adapt to opponents who are content to sit back and hit the Premier League leaders on the break.

“I believe that now teams who play against us sit very deep,” Fabinho added. “We need to do things a little differently and maybe we aren’t doing this — we are unable to find the spaces.

“Often, we want to go through the middle and it is difficult against physically strong and defensive teams. We need to find solutions and in these past few games we haven’t.”

Liverpool FC will host Bournemouth in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
