Jurgen Klopp sends upbeat message to Liverpool FC fans about title race
The Liverpool FC manager opens up about the Premier League title race following a challenging couple of weeks
Jurgen Klopp says that he never expected Liverpool FC to stroll to the Premier League title.
The Merseyside outfit squandered the chance to build a substantial lead at the top following successive stalemates in the Premier League.
Liverpool FC were unable to beat Leicester City and West Ham United despite taking the lead in both games through goals from Sadio Mane.
Klopp’s side have been accused of allowing nerves to affect their performances over the past couple of weeks following consecutive 1-1 draws.
Manchester City , on the other hand, have bounced back from a 2-1 loss at Newcastle United to secure back-to-back victories.
The Citizens have beaten Arsenal and Everton to breathe life into their title challenge after a difficult month or so.
Speaking at his media conference ahead of Liverpool FC’s clash against Bournemouth about the title race, Klopp said:
“It’s obviously getting exciting now. There was never a doubt it would happen, that was always clear.
“I don’t think anybody thought we would be top of the league with 12 points between us and another team with three games to go. It was always clear it would be tight until the end. The good news is we are still in there.
“But the only chance to improve our position – even when it’s a good position – is by winning football games.”
Klopp is looking to become the first Liverpool FC manager to win the Premier League title.
Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez and Brendan Rodgers have all fallen just short of leading Liverpool FC to title glory.
The Reds will take on Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 on 19 February.
Liverpool FC haven’t won any silverware under Klopp since his appointment in October 2015.
