Robbie Fowler rejects claims Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp is a ‘fraud’
The Liverpool FC legend defends Jurgen Klopp and his Reds team
Robbie Fowler has hit back at claims that Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp is a “fraud”.
The German head coach has come under fire in recent weeks after Liverpool FC squandered the chance to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
The Merseyside outfit failed to beat Leicester City and West Ham United to let Manchester City off the hook after the Citizens lost 2-1 at Newcastle last month.
The defending Premier League champions have hit back with 11 goals in three games to beat Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea FC.
Klopp is still waiting to get his hands on silverware as Liverpool FC boss having lost League Cup, Europa League and Champions League finals in the past three seasons.
Liverpool FC have been accused of choking in the title race in recent weeks despite being level on points with Manchester City and having played one game less than the title holders.
Former Liverpool FC striker Fowler rejected claims that Klopp is fraud and defending the former Borussia Dortmund manager.
“I have to confess, I’ve never known a title race generate so much hysteria so far from the end of the season,” Fowler told the Daily Mirror.
“It is mad. All this talk of bottle and pressure – and even frauds. Yes frauds. Just insane.
“Variously, in the last few weeks, Jurgen Klopp , Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have all been called frauds. For getting their teams – on merit – into the best title race in living memory.
“Think about it. Think about what that means. Think how Pochettino was called a disaster a few weeks ago for losing a couple of games. Then a loser who has won nothing when Spurs went out of two cups. Now he’s a mastermind.”
Fowler added: “Liverpool have lost one game all season. And yet a couple of draws are now seen as evidence they don’t have the stomach for a title fight.
“Perhaps it’s something to do with social media, the fact that wild, extreme opinions, which used to be considered just that, now find support and volume to make it louder.”
Klopp won two Bundesliga titles during his seven-year spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
The German coach has lost two Champions League finals to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Liverpool FC will take on Bayern in the first leg of their round of 16 clash next week.
