Gary Lineker offers advice to Liverpool FC ahead of Bayern Munich trip
Gary Lineker took to social media to give his take on Liverpool FC's goalless draw with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night
Gary Lineker has taken to social media to urge Liverpool FC to remain “patient” after their goalless draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Reds were held to a frustrating stalemate in front of their home fans as they were kept at bay by a disciplined Bayern side at Anfield.
Liverpool FC will travel to Bayern Munich for the return leg of the last 16 clash in three weeks’ time as they look to try and qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.
And England legend Lineker seemed to think that Tuesday’s result was not that bad and pointed to their clean sheet as a key positive for Jurgen Klopp’s men heading into the return leg.
Lineker posted on Twitter after the final whistle on Tuesday night: “Liverpool need to be patient against an experienced and well disciplined Bayern team.
“Clean sheet now is vital. Chances will come.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will now have to dust themselves down as they switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and the small matter of their trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds, who are looking to try and win their first major trophy under Klopp, are currently second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City having played a game less than Pep Guardiola’s men.
