Pep Guardiola believes that his Manchester City side have successfully cranked up the pressure on Liverpool FC ahead of their trip to West Ham United on Monday night.

Sergio Aguero hit an impressive hat-trick for the Citizens as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Arsenal at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon to move back to within just two points of Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders.

Liverpool FC have the chance to once again move five points clear of Manchester City with victory against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Monday night.

However, Guardiola believes that West Ham United will be able to offer a stern test of Liverpool FC’s title credentials during Monday’s game.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Sunday’s game about Liverpool FC, Guardiola said: “I understand pressure, pressure to win the games. After the game in Newcastle, Liverpool were seven points ahead and now they are two.

“Of course they have to play, they have quality, but West Ham are a good side.

“Now we have tomorrow to start again and think about Everton and after Chelsea. It is a tough week for us and we go game by game.”

Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first major trophy since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.

The Reds were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Leicester City at Anfield last week as they failed to fully capitalise on Manchester City’s defeat by Newcastle United.
