Naby Keita has singled out Fabinho for special praise following his impressive recent performances for Liverpool FC.

Both players have been settling in to life at Liverpool FC after joining the Reds in the summer transfer window last year as Jurgen Klopp bolstered his squad.

Fabinho initially made a quiet start to life on Merseyside and Klopp did not rush him into the first team at Anfield.

However, the Brazil international has been something of a more regular fixture in the first team in recent weeks and he had made 13 starts in the Premier League ahead of Wednesday night’s game against Watford.

Fabinho now looks to be an important member of Klopp’s midfield as Liverpool FC chase the Premier League title this season.

And Guinea international Keita has been very impressed by what he has seen from Fabinho in recent weeks.

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Keita said: “I’m very happy for him. At the beginning he wasn’t playing much but he worked hard, he never gave up and he was always there for the team. The last match, he put in a great performance.

“That’s what we’re here for – to work hard and try to earn our place in the team. Midfield is an area where we have a lot of options, so that means no-one wants to get injured or give up their place.

“That’s an important thing for the team. When you’re in the team you know already how strong the bench is so you need to give absolutely everything in the game.

“I wasn’t surprised at all by Fabinho’s performance. In training the coach is there for everyone and training is always good. It’s down to us to keep focused and play well in every match.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to local rivals Everton for a crunch top-flight clash.

The Reds are still aiming to win their first major trophy under Klopp since his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in 2015.
