Jurgen Klopp will ask Liverpool FC for summer signings in key area – report
The Liverpool FC manager wants the Reds to make some key defensive signings in the summer transfer window, according to a report
Jurgen Klopp is set to ask Liverpool FC to target improving their defence in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the German head coach is looking to add more strength at the back given how his defence has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks.
Klopp is currently without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren due to injury, while Nathaniel Clyne was sent out to Bournemouth on loan last month.
The same article states that the Reds manager wants to sign cover for his first-choice centre-half pairing Virgil van Dijk and Gomez.
According to the same story, Klopp was keen for the Merseyside outfit to sign some back up options in the January transfer window but no deals came to fruition.
Liverpool FC have lost some of their defensive solidarity in recent weeks after conceding seven times in their last five games in the Premier League.
Klopp has been forced to use his captain Jordan Henderson and vice captain James Milner at right-back in the absence of Alexander-Arnold over the past month.
The Reds will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon with a home clash against Bournemouth as Liverpool FC look to end a two-game winless run.
