Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Malmo v Chelsea FC
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FC's Europa League tie with Malmo on Thursday night
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to return to winning ways in emphatic style when they travel to Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Maurizio Sarri has found himself under intense pressure at Stamford Bridge in recent days after the Blues slumped to a humiliating 6-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
That result caused Chelsea FC to drop down into sixth place in the Premier League table and dealt a blow to the west London side’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
The west London side must now look to try and return to winning ways when they travel to Malmo on Thursday night looking to take a step closer towards the Europa League last 16.
And former Liverpool FC star Owen is tipping the Blues to claim a victory to nil when they take on the Swedish outfit this week.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Malmo are unbeaten in their last eight home European ties – qualifiers included – but I expect Chelsea to return to winning ways after their heavy defeat at The Etihad on Sunday.
“The Blues played their part in a thrilling opening to the game against City, however, and they will not face anything of that calibre in Sweden.
“This is a big week for Chelsea with Manchester United the visitors to the Bridge on Sunday in the FA Cup fifth round.
“I expect Chelsea to take a lead back to the capital next week for the second leg.”
Chelsea FC have been in stuttering form in recent weeks and they have lost three of their last four games in the Premier League.
After Thursday’s game, they will turn their attentions towards their crunch FA Cup fifth-round clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
