Michael Owen is tipping Manchester City to ease past Chelsea FC at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens will welcome Maurizio Sarri’s side to Eastlands in pursuit of a third successive Premier League victory to keep the pressure on Liverpool FC.

Pep Guardiola’s side bounced back from a surprise 2-1 loss at Newcastle with back-to-back victories over Arsenal and Everton.

Manchester City have only dropped points in one game at The Etihad this season following a shock 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace during the festive schedule.

Chelsea FC were 5-0 winners against Huddersfield Town last weekend thanks to goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard.

However, the Blues suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in their last away fixture in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen doesn’t anticipate Manchester City dropping points against Chelsea FC at The Etihad on Sunday.

“City have won nine of their ten games in 2019 scoring 36 times in the process, but Chelsea showed their teeth, after their heavy defeat at Bournemouth, against Huddersfield last weekend and this is a big test for both sides with Chelsea desperate to end the season in the top four,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Chelsea will not just sit back and defend at the Emirates – which might be their undoing – and I expect them to play a huge part in what promises to be an entertaining clash between two quality sides in what is a dress rehearsal for the League Cup Final later in the month.”

Chelsea FC were 2-0 winners against the defending Premier League champions in their previous meeting at Stamford Bridge this season.

Goals from David Luiz and N’Golo Kante sealed a win against Manchester City.

Chelsea FC have won three of their last six meetings, including a 3-1 victory over Guardiola’s side in December 2016.

The Blues are coming under pressure from Arsenal and Manchester United in the top-four race.
