Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Romelu Lukaku after the striker helped to fire Manchester United to a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils headed into the game looking to bounce back to winning ways after the disappointment of their goalless draw with Liverpool FC at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Lukaku gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute at Selhurst Park, before he scored again in the 52nd minute to double the Red Devils’ advantage.

Joel Ward pulled a goal back for the home side in the 65th minute.

However, the Red Devils claimed all three points after Ashley Young made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute thanks to Paul Pogba’s assist.

England legend Lineker was watching the game unfold and praised Lukaku for his finish as he gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men the lead.

Lineker wrote on Twitter after the opening goal: “Lukaku gives @ManUtd the lead with an excellent finish.”

Lineker then added another update after Lukaku had made it 2-0 early in the second half at Selhurst Park: “The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer show goes marching on. Lukaku strikes again.”

Manchester United are fifth in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification via a top-four finish.

They will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Southampton at Old Trafford, before the return leg of their Champions League last 16 tie at Paris Saint-Germain next week.
