Gary Neville sends message to Luke Shaw after Man United’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool FC
Gary Neville praises Luke Shaw for his man of the match display for Man United against Liverpool FC on Sunday
Gary Neville lavished praise on the “outstanding” Luke Shaw after he was named as the man of the match in Manchester United’s goalless draw with Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Liverpool FC headed into the game knowing that a victory would move them three points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
However, the Reds, who lost Roberto Firmino to injury in the first half, were unable to break down a resilient Manchester United side, who remain unbeaten in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Red Devils legend Neville was on pundit duty for Sky Sports on Sunday and speaking during the coverage of the game, he highlighted why he was so impressed with Shaw’s performance in particular.
Neville said: “He just defended everything really well.
“He has been questioned many times in these last two or three years at Manchester United. Is he tough enough? Does he have the resilience and the physical capacity?
“But today he was outstanding and showed the level of performance he can produce.”
The result lifted Liverpool FC one point clear at the top of the Premier League table as the Reds continue to seek their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
Next up for Manchester United is a trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday night, before a home clash with Southampton on Saturday.
Liverpool FC, meanwhile, host Watford in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
