Gary Lineker praised Manchester United for their “terrific” performance as they booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The Red Devils produced an impressive display in west London as they bounced back in style from their loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week.

Ander Herrera headed the visitors into the lead in the 31st minute, before Paul Pogba headed home from Marcus Rashford’s brilliant cross to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.

The Red Devils held on and kept the Blues at bay as they booked their place in the quarter-final draw.

And England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he saw from Manchester United as they continued their strong form under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking during BBC One‘s coverage of the game, Lineker said: “It was a terrific performance from Manchester United. They kept Chelsea at bay in the second half. Paul Pogba was once again the star of the show.

“Nothing doing for Gonzalo Higuain this evening and overall Manchester United were worthy winners.”

Manchester United will now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Liverpool FC on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils are currently fourth in the table as they chase Champions League qualification.
