Man United ready to pay £90m to sign top 27-year-old – report
Man United are ready to splash the cash on signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, according to reports
Manchester United are ready to pay a £90m transfer fee to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjar sent one of his top scouts to watch the 27-year-old central defender in action for the Italian side against Fiorentina last weekend.
The same report claims that the Red Devils scout was highly impressed by the Senegal international’s display and that Manchester United are now pondering a bid to try and bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
According to the same story, Manchester United are ready to “smash” the £75m Liverpool FC paid to sign Virgil van Dijk last year in a deal that would make Koulibaly the most expensive defender in the world.
The same article goes on to claim that Solskjaer will be named as the club’s permanent manager, although it may not be announced until the end of the season.
Koulibaly has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and he has been in good form for Napoli so far this season, making two assists in 21 Serie A games.
Manchester United will take on Chelsea FC in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
