Arsene Wenger sends warning to Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Arsene Wenger has his say on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's start to life as Manchester United interim boss
Arsene Wenger has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that his first real test as Manchester United boss will come when his team are in “crisis”.
The Norwegian manager has been earning lots of praise for the impact he has had at Old Trafford since he was brought in to replace Jose Mourinho as interim boss back in December.
The Red Devils are unbeaten in the Premier League and are currently fourth in the table as they chase Champions League qualification for next season.
However, Manchester United suffered their first defeat under Solskjaer on Tuesday night when they lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash at Old Trafford.
Former Arsenal manager Wenger has been impressed by what he has seen from Solskjaer so far, but the Frenchman believes that the true test of his character will come when the Red Devils are struggling.
Speaking to beIN Sports on Tuesday night, Wenger said: “The managers – their real job comes in a crisis.
“The good managers are managers that – when you have a flow it is all going good – but when you have a crisis the talent of a manger uses the crisis.
“Solskjaer has given them something fantastic. An impulse, a freedom and a positiveness.
“That is of course interesting to see what will happen there.”
Manchester United will have to dust themselves down as they prepare for their FA Cup fifth-round tie against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Their next Premier League game is a home clash against Liverpool FC on Sunday 24 February.
