Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets Man United target ahead of Liverpool FC clash
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Man United's hopes of winning a trophy this season ahead of home clash with Liverpool FC
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United want to try and win a trophy this season ahead of their showdown with Liverpool FC on Sunday.
The Red Devils booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Monday night thanks to an impressive 2-0 victory over Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United will now take on Wolves in the sixth round as they look to reach the final once again as they did last season.
Solskjaer has rightly been earning plenty of praise for the impact he has had at Old Trafford since taking over from Jose Mourinho as interim manager back in December.
The Red Devils are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they prepare for their home clash against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool FC this weekend.
Although a top-four finish is clearly a priority for the Red Devils, Solskjaer admits that he would love to win some silverware with the Red Devils.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Monday night, Solskjaer said: “The next game now is Liverpool and we have just got to focus on that one.
“It’s a tough game going to Paris and having to win 2-0 but we did that tonight – we won 2-0. The league will be very important for us, of course, but a trophy is fantastic to end up with.
“The FA Cup is one of the best trophies you can win. I played in 1999 and we want to finish the season off with a bang.”
Manchester United are currently fourth in the table, while Liverpool FC are second and level on points with leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.
