Gianfranco Zola: What I really think of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United
Gianfranco Zola discusses the impressive impact of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United
Gianfranco Zola has insisted that he is happy to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doing so well at Manchester United this season.
The Norwegian has been earning lots of praise for the impact he has had at Old Trafford since having taken over on an interim basis following the sacking of Jose Mourinho back in December.
Manchester United have won all but one of their games in the Premier League under Solskjaer to leave them in fourth place in the table as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.
The Red Devils suffered their first defeat under the interim boss last week when they were beaten 2-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Solskjaer is now preparing to take his team to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea FC in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday night.
And Chelsea FC coach Zola has spoken of his admiration for Solskjaer and the job he has been doing at Manchester United.
Speaking at a news conference at Chelsea FC’s Cobham training ground on Friday, Zola said: “I am pleased [for Solskjaer], that’s the first feeling I have.
“I know Ole, we did a course together and I’m pleased to see him doing so well.
“United weren’t in a very good moment before but I knew the value of the team and that they would come back. What he has done in a small amount of time is quite remarkable. He was clever, always interested and you can see when someone is focused on what he’s doing. He has that and I’m pleased he’s showing that.
“At the moment they are enjoying what they’re doing. They are committed, working together as a group and when you have that attitude and the qualities they have, the results can only be good.
“It’s strange because they had a very good coach before but sometimes things don’t work out. The value of the team wasn’t in doubt and it’s no surprise they are doing what they’re doing.”
Chelsea FC head into Monday’s game after having bounced back from their 6-0 loss to Manchester City with a 2-1 win over Malmo in the Europa League.
