Man United to battle Man City for 21-year-old Serie A star – report
Manchester United and Manchester City are among the clubs interested in Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa, according to a report in Italy
Manchester United are one of a number of clubs interested in a deal to sign Federico Chiesa in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Calcio Mercato, is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to battle it out with defending Premier League champions for the Fiorentina star.
The same article states that the Manchester clubs could face competition from Serie A title holders Juventus for the 21-year-old’s signature in the summer.
According to the same story, Juve are frontrunners to sign the talented Fiorentina midfielder but Inter Milan are also among the potential suitors.
The Italian media outlet goes on to claim that Manchester City or Manchester United would have to pay a fee in the region of £60m to sign Chiesa from Fiorentina.
The playmaker has scored five goals and has made three assists in 22 games in Serie A this season, although his efforts haven’t been sufficient to help La Viola challenge for a top-four finish.
Chiesa netted three times in Fiorentina’s demolition of AS Roma in the Coppa Italia earlier this year, taking his tally to seven goals in his last five games in all competitions.
The Fiorentina midfielder has already amassed an impressive 11 caps for the Italian national team.
