Manchester United have made contact with agent of Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes, according to a report in Portugal.
Portuguese media outlet A Bola, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Red Devils have shown an interest in the 24-year-old.
The same article states Sporting Lisbon would be receptive to a big-money offer for the skipper.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC have also shown an interest in the Portugal international in the past.
Fernandes has scored 11 times and has made seven assists in 21 games in Liga NOS to help Sporting recover from a difficult spell on and off the pitch.
Manchester United have a history of raiding Liga NOS for players over the past couple of seasons.
The Red Devils signed Sweden international Victor Lindelof in a £30m deal from Benfica in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Diogo Dalot followed in Lindelof’s footsteps 12 months later after the 20-year-old completed an £19m move from FC Porto in 2018.
