Manchester United are confident that David De Gea will sign a new deal at Old Trafford, say reports
Manchester United are confident that David De Gea will sign a new long-term contract to keep him at the club, according to reports in the British media.
Metro is reporting that the Red Devils are hopeful that the Spanish shot-stopper will commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford outfit by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
The 28-year-old is widely regarded as one of world football’s top goalkeepers and he has been earning lots of praise for his solid performances in recent seasons.
De Gea’s current contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in the summer of 2020 after the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension to his deal last year.
According to the same story, negotiations between De Gea and Manchester United about a new contract resumed last month and the club have been “encouraged” by the goalkeeper’s seeming willingness to sign a new deal.
The same story says that his new contract could earn him a weekly wage of around £375,000 and that the deal will run until 2024.
De Gea will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils host Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash on Tuesday night.
