Manchester United are interested in a potential move to sign Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the summer, according to a report in Spain
Manchester United are preparing to make a “tempting offer” for FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in a potential swoop to sign the Croatia international.
The same article states that the 30-year-old’s future at FC Barcelona is in doubt after the Spanish side signed promising Dutch talent Frenkie de Jong from Ajax earlier this season.
De Jong will link up with his new FC Barcelona team-mates in the summer when the 21-year-old will battle it out with Rakitic for a first-team place.
According to the same story, Manchester United could face competition from three other clubs for the World Cup finalist’s signature at the end of the season.
The article goes on to name Manchester United’s rivals for Rakitic as Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
Rakitic has scored two goals and has made two assists in 24 games in the Spanish top flight for the La Liga leaders in the current campaign.
The experienced Croatia international has won three La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies and the Champions League since his move to FC Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014.
