Juan Mata issues rallying cry ahead of Man United v Liverpool FC
Juan Mata looks ahead to Manchester United's home clash with Liverpool FC on Sunday
Juan Mata is confident that Manchester United’s fans will help to drive them to a victory over Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils are preparing to welcome their bitter local rivals to Old Trafford this weekend as they look to continue their fine form under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Manchester United are unbeaten in the Premier League since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho back in December, and they have been earning plenty of praise for their strong attacking displays.
Solskjaer’s side warmed up for the game at Old Trafford with an impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea FC in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night last week.
Manchester United will be hoping to claim all three points to keep their bid to finish in the top four this season on track.
And playmaker Mata feels that the fans could play a vital role in the game on Sunday.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Mata said: “We want to have not only 11, but 75,000 [people] playing and trying to score on Sunday, and I’m sure they [the fans] will help us.
“I’m sure they will push us for the win and I have to say that the atmosphere at Old Trafford in the last few weeks has been incredible. They’re happy. They come and they’re getting results.
“The fans are going back home happy, and that’s the most important thing for us, so hopefully on Sunday it can be the same.
“Since I arrived in Manchester, I felt this was the big game. Liverpool-United, United-Liverpool – everyone is waiting for those derbies, and you can feel it in the build-up to the game.
“During the week, everyone is speaking about it, everyone is thinking about it. We will try to make it very special.“
Mata has scored two goals and made two assists in 17 Premier League games for Manchester United so far this season.
