Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to try and beat Manchester United to the signature of Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Spurs are preparing a £50m summer bid to try and bring the 21-year-old midfielder to White Hart Lane.

According to the same report, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was “aware” of the youngster’s talent last season and Spurs could now be ready to make a summer move.

However, the article also claims that the Lilywhites are likely to have to fend off competition from Manchester United for the midfielder’s signature.

Brooks has been in good form for Bournemouth so far this season and has scored six goals and made four assists in 22 Premier League games this term.

The Wales international has also managed to earn nine senior caps for his country.

The same article says that Manchester United have been regularly keeping tabs on Brooks and that the Red Devils could make their own summer bid to try and bring him to Old Trafford.

Tottenham are currently in third place in the Premier League table, while Manchester United are down in fifth as the race for a top-four finish hots up.
