Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund to play out a draw in their Champions League clash at Wembley on Wednesday night.

The Lilywhites head into the last 16 first-leg tie looking to continue their recent good form which has kept them in third place in the Premier League table.

Tottenham have won their last four games on the spin in the English top flight to leave them third in the table and just five points behind joint table-toppers Liverpool FC and Manchester City.

Spurs will now turn their attentions towards their crunch clash against Bundesliga giants Dortmund as they look to gain a positive result and keep alive their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.

Former England star Owen believes that a draw could be on the cards in Wednesday’s games – and he insists that would be a good result for Tottenham Hotspur.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “The sides are meeting for the third time in four seasons in European competition with the score currently standing at two wins apiece.

“The Bundesliga outfit have never failed to score against Spurs in those four games and I feel the sides will be all-square going into the second leg in Dortmund next month.

“Mauricio Pochettino would love a clean sheet and is likely to have both Harry Kane and Dele Alli back for the second leg.

“Spurs won’t play for a draw at Wembley, but it wouldn’t be the worst result in the world especially a goalless one.”

Tottenham will then enjoy a weekend off before turning their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Burnley on Saturday 23 February.

They then face tricky back to back fixtures against Chelsea FC and Arsenal in the top flight.
