Sokratis sends warning to Man United ahead of Arsenal clash
The Arsenal defender isn't fazed by Manchester United's recent success in PSG ahead of Sunday's meeting
Sokratis Papastathopolous has claimed that Arsenal still have the advantage over Manchester United ahead of their clash at The Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners have the opportunity to hoist themselves above Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and into fourth spot with a win over the Red Devils in north London.
Manchester United have only lost one game since the Norwegian coach took over the reins of the 20-time English champions from Jose Mourinho in December.
The away side’s confidence will be high ahead of their trip to the English capital following their heroics against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
Manchester United managed to win 3-1 in the second leg to overturn a 2-0 deficit and progress to the quarter-finals on away goals.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games but the Gunners lost 3-1 to Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round meeting at the end of January at The Emirates.
But Greek defender Sokratis is adamant that Arsenal still have the edge over Manchester United despite the visitors’ recent form.
“We play in our home. We know what we can do,” Sokratis is quoted as saying by Metro.
“We will play with confidence and everything will be good. It is a game that we know is very important for us but we will be ready.
“Of course we watched [the PSG match]. Everybody watched.
“But we will be ready, everybody is thinking about Sunday’s game already and we will give 100 per cent.”
Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new manager last summer after the Gunners parted company with Arsene Wenger.
The north London side are looking to finish in the top four for the first time since 2015-16 season.
