The German goalkeeper produced a number of impressive saves to keep the Red Devils at bay as Arsenal claimed a crucial victory in the race for a top-four finish.
Goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang claimed the three points for the Gunners as they moved above Manchester United and into fourth place in the Premier League table.
Leno has been a regular fixture in the first team at Arsenal in recent months since his transfer to the north London club last summer.
And Arsenal legend Wright has clearly been impressed with what he has seen from the Gunners shop-stopper recently.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, as quoted by the Daily Express, Wright said: “People will say it was fortunate and, yeah, to a certain extent I think we were.
“They [United] missed some very good chances but, saying that, our goalkeeper was magnificent [on Sunday] and I don’t [usually] give him a lot of credit, but credit where it’s due.
“He made some great saves against Spurs last week.
“The save he made – if it was David De Gea, everybody would have went crazy.
“He made two great saves again [on Sunday]. Even though Lukaku missed some chances, our goalkeeper was fantastic.”
Arsenal are currently in fourth place and just a point behind third-placed Tottenham Hotspur with eight games left to play.
They will return to Premier League action on 1 April when they take on Newcastle United in front of their home fans at The Emirates.
Arsenal are looking to break back into the top four this season after missing out on Champions League qualification for the last two seasons running under Arsene Wenger.
