Real Madrid want £51m for 27-year-old linked with Arsenal – report
Real Madrid set their asking price for James Rodriguez, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal, according to a report in Spain
Real Madrid will seek a £51m transfer fee to sell James Rodriguez this summer, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet El Confidencial, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Real Madrid are willing to sell the Colombia international in the summer.
The same article states that the Champions League holders would be open to sanctioning Rodriguez’s sale if Real Madrid receive a transfer fee in the region of £51m.
According to the same story, Arsenal are considering Rodriguez as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who will move to Juventus at the end of the season.
However, the report casts doubt on whether Arsenal would be able to afford Real Madrid’s asking price given Unai Emery’s limited transfer funds for the summer window.
Arsenal were 2-0 winners against Manchester United last weekend to hoist themselves into the top four and pole position to secure a Champions League spot.
The north London side came from 3-1 down in their tie against Rennes to reach the Europa League quarter-finals after Arsenal were 3-0 winners in the second leg at The Emirates on Thursday.
The Gunners will take on Napoli in the Europa League last eight, with the first leg taking place in north London on 11 April.
Arsenal haven’t finished in the Premier League’s top four since 2015-16 under Arsene Wenger.
