The Senegal international has been Liverpool FC’s most consistent forward in recent weeks as Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino continue to struggle in front of goal.
Mane had scored eight times in his last 10 games in all competitions ahead of their trip to Allianz Arena for the second leg of their round of 16 clash.
The African forward opened the scoring in the last-16 tie when Mane managed to hoist his finish above the scrambling Bayern defence with Manuel Neuer out of position.
Mane’s quick feet deceived the Bayern and German number one before the former Southampton winger created the space to score his 18th goal of the season.
Joel Matip’s own goal before half-time offered Bayern hope but Virgil van Dijk’s header and Mane’s second goal sealed a 3-1 win in Germany.
Former Liverpool FC midfielder McManaman couldn’t disguise his delight with Mane’s hoisted finish in the first half at Allianz Arena.
“What a touch this is,” McManaman told BT Sport.
“To have the calmness to dink it into the net. It was a real moment of class. Liverpool are 1-0 up away from home. Love it!”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action with a home clash against Fulham at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Merseyside outfit are in second place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool FC lost 1-0 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last term.
