Jamie Redknapp believes Chelsea FC need to priortise winning the Europa League to ensure Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season.

Maurizio Sarri’s side missed out on the chance to move level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they lost 2-0 at Everton.

The Blues produced a poor performance in the second half at Goodison Park to slump to their seventh defeat of the top-flight campaign.

Chelsea FC are in sixth place in the Premier League table and three points adrift of Arsenal.

The west London outfit were 5-0 winners against Dynamo Kyiv in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie.

Sarri’s side managed to avoid some of the big teams left in the Europa League after the Blues were pitted against Slavia Prague in the last eight.

Chelsea FC will face either Valencia or Villarreal in the last four before a potential Europa League final against Arsenal.

Former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp believes Chelsea FC need to concentrate on the Europa League with the top-four challenge in disarray.

“It increasingly looks like Chelsea’s hopes of Champions League football next season hinge on winning the Europa League,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

“After being given a favourable route to the final, Maurizio Sarri cannot afford to waste this get out of jail free card. ”

Chelsea FC won the Europa League in their only other campaign in Europe’s second-tier competition.

The Blues were 1-0 winners against Portuguese outfit Benfica in the Europa League final in Amsterdam under Rafael Benitez in 2013.
