Maurizio Sarri is adamant that Chelsea FC can still finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Blues slumped to their seventh Premier League defeat of the Italian’s first campaign in charge of the west London side on Sunday when they lost 2-0 at Everton.

Goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson secured a 2-0 win for Everton at Goodison Park to heap more pressure on Sarri.

Chelsea FC had the opportunity to move level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal if the Blues managed to beat Everton on Merseyside.

However, Sarri’s side continued their inconsistent performances under the Italian coach with a strong first-half performance before Everton got back on top after the break.

Arsenal are in fourth place and three points ahead of Chelsea FC with eight games left to play in the Premier League campaign.

However, Chelsea FC manager Sarri urged his Blues players to continue to fight to secure a vital Champions League spot.

“It was an important match,” Sarri told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Now we are a little but in trouble. We have to play eight matches so we have to fight for our position.”

Asked if he thinks Chelsea FC can still finish in the top four, Sarri added: “We can do it. We can do everything, in the right way and the wrong way.”

Chelsea FC booked their place in the Europa League quarter-finals thanks to a 5-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv last week.

The Blues will take on Slavia Prague for a place in the last four of Europe’s second tier competition.
