Maurizio Sarri’s fresh message for Chelsea FC fans about Callum Hudson-Odoi
Maurizio Sarri has his say about Callum Hudson-Odoi's situation at Chelsea FC
Maurizio Sarri is convinced that Callum Hudson-Odoi will make it to the top but warned against putting too much pressure on the Chelsea FC youngster.
The 18-year-old came off the bench to score in Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League last 16 at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Hudson-Odoi’s future at Chelsea FC has been a source of speculation in recent months and his current contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
He is yet to start a single game in the Premier League this season and has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far.
However, Sarri is urging patience with the youngster, with the Italian manager insisting that Hudson-Odoi has the talent to make it to the very top.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports after Thursday night’s win, Sarri said: “I am convinced, he doesn’t have to do anything to convince me. He is a very good player. He needs to improve. At 18 he can’t be at the top.
“He will be ready to be at the top at 22 or 23 years. We need to improve without the media of the pressure of the media, fans the club. His training is really very good.
“When you have pressure when you are 18 it is dangerous, you can lose the target. The target is to improve. So it is dangerous. This is why I don’t like to speak about him.”
Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to feature when Chelsea FC return to Premier League action with a home clash against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues are currently sixth in the table but they will move up into fourth place if they win their game in hand on the rest of the top four.
