Callum Hudson-Odoi offered Chelsea FC advice by Gareth Southgate
Gareth Southgate has some advice for Callum Hudson-Odoi about his situation at Chelsea FC
Callum Hudson-Odoi should be patient and stay at Chelsea FC for the time being, according to England manager Gareth Southgate.
The 18-year-old’s situation at Chelsea FC has been a constant source of speculation in recent months after Bayern Munich were heavily linked with a move to try and sign him in January.
However, the teenager ended up staying at Chelsea FC until the end of the season at least, and he has been featuring in the cup competitions this season.
Hudson-Odoi’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of next season, and that has only served to further fuel the speculation about his future.
The teenager is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea FC this season but he has featured eight times in the Europa League this term.
And Southgate has now appeared to suggest that the best option for the youngster may be to remain at Stamford Bridge.
Southgate is quoted as saying by Metro: “If you look at number of appearances, he has actually been on the field quite a lot.
“And I know from when we were talking with the club earlier in the season how much faith Maurizio has in him. He has got some outstanding players just in front of him but he’s slowly getting more and more game time.
“So, I think he’s maturing well. There doesn’t need to be a rush for him. We’ve seen that with Marcus Rashford and his development.
“He’s getting first-team football and that’s important. For us, I think his progress is good.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Cardiff City away from home on Sunday.
The Blues are currently sixth in the Premier League table.
