Cesar Azpilicueta sends Chelsea FC warning to Tottenham Hotspur
Cesar Azpilicueta has his say on Chelsea FC's hopes of finishing in the top four this season
Cesar Azpilicueta has warned Tottenham Hotspur that they are back in the race for a top-four finish and that Chelsea FC have them in their sights.
Chelsea FC claimed a 2-0 win over Spurs last week to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side dropped more points in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC sealed an important 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday to move to within five points of Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.
The race is certainly hotting up for a top-four finish in the Premier League, with Spurs, Chelsea FC, Manchester United and Arsenal all seemingly vying for two Champions League spots between them.
And Azpilicueta is confident that things are moving in the right direction for Chelsea FC as they look to catch their London rivals in the Premier League table.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website after the win over Fulham, Azpilicueta said: “Now after the last results, Tottenham is in the race to make the top four, that is clear.
“It is in our hands to make it possible, so we have 10 games remaining and now we have to fight.
“We have two games in the Premier League before the international break, we have to be focused on those, and two legs of the Europa League and let’s see where we can finish.
“But our aim as always at Chelsea is to try to finish as high as possible.”
Chelsea FC will return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a home clash against Dynamo Kiev in the last 16.
The Blues will then take on Wolves at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their bid for Champions League qualification.
