Maurizio Sarri is backing Jorginho to prove his doubters wrong and develop into a key player for Chelsea FC.

The midfielder has been settling into life at Stamford Bridge after having signed for the Blues from Napoli last summer shortly after the appointment of Sarri as the club’s new manager.

Jorginho has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team this season but most Blues fans would probably agree that he is yet to hit top form for the west London side.

Some Chelsea FC fans booed the midfielder when he was introduced in the second half of the recent Europa League win over Malmo at Stamford Bridge.

However, Blues boss Sarri is fully expecting to see Jorginho prove his doubters wrong by hitting top form in the next few months.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports before Sunday’s trip to Fulham, Sarri said: “Jorginho has a very strong character, a very strong personality.

“So I can believe that he has no problem to play under pressure. I think that he played very well in the last match (against Tottenham), better in the second half than in the first half.

“For him, it’s very important to finish the match in that way. I think that he can do better. But he needs all the team to understand very well our way of football.”

Chelsea FC – who lost the League Cup final last month to Manchester City on penalties – are looking to break back into the top four this season as they aim to secure Champions League qualification.

They will return to Europa League action with a home clash against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday night in the last 16.
