Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf, as quoted by Caught Offside, is reporting that Chelsea FC are interested in a potential swoop to bring the Bournemouth defender back to Stamford Bridge.
The same article states that Chelsea FC would need to submit an offer in excess of €45m to activate a clause in Ake’s deal.
According to the same story, the Blues could face competition from the top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Maurizio Sarri’s former club Napoli for the Bournemouth star’s signature.
The story goes on to add that Sarri is looking to sign long-term replacements for aging centre-halves Gary Cahill and David Luiz.
Chelsea FC have endured a difficult first season under the Italian coach after Sarri replaced his compatriot Antonio Conte last summer.
The Blues have conceded 33 times in 30 games in the Premier League this season to highlight their problems at the back.
Sarri’s side suffered their seventh Premier League defeat of the season before the international break after a 2-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action with a trip to Cardiff City on Sunday 31 March.
