Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea FC v Dynamo Kiev
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FC's clash with Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to seal a comfortable win over Dynamo Kiev in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 clash on Thursday night.
The Blues head into the game fresh from their 2-1 win at Fulham on Sunday afternoon as they sealed back to back wins in the Premier League.
The west London side are currently in sixth place in the table but they will move above Manchester United and Arsenal into fourth if they can win their game in hand.
Chelsea FC will also be keen to keep the Europa League door open as a possible route into next season’s Champions League by winning the competition this term.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Blues claim a comfortable win over Dynamo Kiev in front of their home fans on Thursday night.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Dynamo Kiev have never won a European match on English soil (L11 D3) and I can’t see them bucking that trend at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
“Chelsea are one of only three sides – also Villareal and Eintracht Frankfurt – still unbeaten in the competition and I can’t see past a comfortable win for the Blues as they try and make the last eight of a competition they won back in 2013.”
Chelsea FC have enjoyed something of a turnaround in form in recent days after their League Cup final defeat and the 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Blues beat Tottenham 2-0 last week before claiming the three points against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon to make it back-to-back wins.
