Michael Owen states his prediction for England v Czech Republic
Michael Owen looks ahead to England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Czech Republic on Friday night
Michael Owen is tipping England to beat Czech Republic at Wembley in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Friday night.
The Three Lions are preparing for their clash as they look to take a step closer towards securing qualification for next summer’s tournament.
England have been pitted in Group A along with Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro and Czech Republic as they aim to seal their place in the tournament next year.
Fresh from their impressive exploits at the 2018 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals, Gareth Southgate’s men will be eager to being their qualification campaign in positive fashion.
And former England striker Owen is tipping the Three Lions to have too much for the visitors to Wembley on Friday night.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “England are unbeaten in their last 18 Euro qualifiers with their last defeat coming back in 2007 against Croatia under Steve McLaren.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more of the exciting Jadon Sancho, who is the first Englishman to have provided 10 or more assists in the top five European leagues this season.
“I would be disappointed if the Three Lions did not have too much quality for the Czech Republic at what looks likely to be a sell-out Wembley.”
England reached the World Cup semi-finals last summer but ended up losing to Croatia.
However, Southgate and his team earned lots of praise for their impressive performances in Russia despite the disappointment of their exit at the last-four stage.
England will then travel to Montenegro for their second Euro 2020 qualifier on Monday 25 March, before the Premier League returns the following weekend.
