Gary Lineker praised Gonzalo Higuain’s clinical finish in Chelsea FC’s 2-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentina international was named in Maurizio Sarri’s for his first west London derby after the 31-year-old moved to Chelsea FC from Juventus on loan in the January transfer window.

Higuain’s only goals ahead of their short trip to Craven Cottage came in a 5-0 rout of Huddersfield Town last month.

However, the former Real Madrid striker required 20 minutes to find the net against Fulham after Higuain connected with Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross and guided his finish past Sergio Rico.

The South American forward had the chance to double his tally a short time later when Higuain beat the offside trap but Higuain recklessly finished high over the crossbar.

Former Spurs forward Lineker was impressed with Higuain’s composed finish to break the deadlock in the west London derby at Craven Cottage.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Great finish from Higuain, a superb old fashioned fox in the box.”

On-loan Arsenal defender Callum Chambers did his parent club a favour when he equalised from a corner seven minutes after Higuain’s opening goal.

However, Jorginho restored Chelsea FC’s advantage with a clinical finish from outside the penalty area.

Chelsea FC are in sixth place and two points behind Manchester United, having played a game less than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
