Jamie Carragher makes Sadio Mane claim after Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win at Fulham
Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher says Sadio Mane is the best player in Europe based upon current form
Jamie Carragher named Sadio Mane as the best player in Europe after the Liverpool FC forward netted in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Fulham.
The Senegal international has been Liverpool FC’s standout player over the past month or so as Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino struggle for goals.
Mane netted twice in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Allianz Arena.
The 26-year-old broke the deadlock at Craven Cottage after Mane combined with Roberto Firmino before the African forward placed a finish past Sergio Rico.
Mane has now scored 11 times in his last 11 games in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit to hit top form at a crucial stage of the season.
However, Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk got their wires crossed in the 74th minute and Ryan Babel capitalised on the mix up to score against his former club.
Liverpool FC managed to secure three points with nine minutes to go after James Milner dispatched a penalty following Rico’s foul on Mane.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher described Mane as the best player in Europe on current form after his winner at Craven Cottage.
“He’s not just form man in the Premier League, he’s the form man in Europe,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “I’ve been saying from the start of this game far too much space in wide areas and Liverpool have exploited it.
“There was space for Mane to go at the full-back, space for Robertson. It’s a great run and pass from Firmino and the combination between the front three is superb.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday 31 March.
Mane has scored more outfield goals than any other player in the Premier League this season.
