Jamie Carragher admitted Liverpool FC weren’t at their best but remain in the title hunt thanks to their record of late goals following Sunday’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds were looking to restore their position at the top of the Premier League table after Manchester City were 2-1 winners against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.

Liverpool FC managed to get a stranglehold on the Premier League clash in the first half and the Reds made their pressure tell when Roberto Firmino broke the deadlock in the 16th minute.

Andy Robertson managed to pick out the Brazil international with a brilliant cross before Firmino steered a header past Hugo Lloris.

However, Tottenham looked to spoil the Liverpool FC party when Lucas Moura levelled with 20 minutes to go after some scrappy defending.

Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko had the chance to double the home side’s lead but Virgil van Dijk did enough to disrupt the French star, who fluffed his attempt.

And Liverpool FC managed to find a dramatic winner in added time when Toby Alderweireld scored an own goal after Hugo Lloris pushed Mo Salah’s header onto the Belgian defender.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher admitted that the Reds are showing signs of champions with their record of late goals.

“It’s massive [win],” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“Klopp said this was a time to enjoy it before the game. I can’t imagine Liverpudlians enjoying this game. Liverpool weren’t at their best.

“History tells you to win titles, you’ve got to score late goals. Origi did in the derby. At Fulham the other week. Now another!”

Liverpool FC have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes than any other Premier League team this season.
