Gary Neville singled out Mo Salah for his role in Liverpool FC’s winning goal after Sunday evening’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Egypt international has been in poor form in recent weeks as his strike partner Sadio Mane has carried the burden of being clinical in front of goal.

Salah failed to score in his eight games in all competitions ahead of the visit of third-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League clash.

The 26-year-old’s team-mate Roberto Firmino powered a header past Hugo Lloris after Andy Robertson picked out the Brazil international with a superb cross.

However, Lucas Moura equalised in the 70th minute to leave Liverpool FC facing the prospect of more dropped points in the title race.

But Salah managed to force an error from Lloris to result in Toby Alderweireld’s own goal in added time at the end of the Premier League clash.

While the Egypt international is still waiting to end his goal drought, Salah will get credit for his role in Liverpool FC’s winning goal.

Former Manchester United defender Neville had his say on the decisive moment in the Premier League clash.

“It’s an own goal,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“He won’t get the goal I’m certain about that. Not to pour water on his celebrations or anything. He won’t care. The goal is the most important thing.”

Liverpool FC are two points ahead of defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Reds will make the trip to Southampton in their next Premier League game on Friday evening.
