Jason McAteer believes Liverpool FC shouldn’t fear any opponent in the Champions League over two legs with Jurgen Klopp in charge.

The Reds booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals thanks to Liverpool FC’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena earlier this month.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk sealed their first-ever win at German side Bayern Munich to set up a quarter-final meeting with Portuguese outfit FC Porto with a place in the last four up for grabs.

Liverpool FC will fancy their chances of easing past FC Porto after Klopp’s men were 5-0 aggregate winners against the 2004 winners in the Champions League round of 16 en route to the Kiev showpiece last term.

The Reds will face either FC Barcelona or Manchester United in the Champions League semi-finals if Liverpool FC manage to beat FC Porto over two legs.

And former Liverpool FC midfielder McAteer is adamant that the Reds shouldn’t fear any Champions League opponent given Klopp’s record in two-legged ties.

“Klopp over two legs in Europe has been sensational. He’s fantastic. I fancy Liverpool FC over two legs against anyone,” McAteer told Irish radio station Newstalk.

Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season after Loris Karius produced a disastrous performance in goal.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but are two points ahead of Manchester City – who have a game in hand – with seven games to go.
