BBC Sport pundit raves about Liverpool FC star who ‘ran the show’ at Fulham
BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks believes Liverpool FC star Sadio Mane is in excellent form after Sunday's 2-1 win at Fulham
Sadio Mane “ran the show” in Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win over Fulham, according to BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks.
The Senegal international has been in scintillating form for the Merseyside outfit over the past couple of months to help keep their title challenge on track.
Mane managed to transfer his form to the Champions League after the African forward scored twice in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their last-16 clash last week.
The 26-year-old was named in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line up for their trip to Fulham as Liverpool FC looked to hoist themselves above Manchester City ahead of the international break.
Mane combined brilliantly with Roberto Firmino to break the deadlock in the first half to score his 17th goal of the Premier League season.
Liverpool FC appeared to be on the brink of dropping two vital points after Ryan Babel capitalised on a mix up between Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk.
However, Mane won an 82nd-minute penalty to give Liverpool FC substitute James Milner the chance to rescue three points from the spot.
And former Spurs forward Crooks was impressed with Mane’s performance at Craven Cottage at the weekend.
“He [Mane] ran the show in the first half and hit the bar in the second,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“With Roberto Firmino never quite at the party and Mohamed Salah struggling to hit the back of the net it was left to Sadio Mane to provide the inspiration.
“Liverpool got away with this 2-1 away win. It was a spirited performance by the Cottagers and only a mistake by Fulham goalkeeper Sergio Rico let the Reds back into the game.
“I remember the days when goalkeepers could catch a ball.”
Mane has scored more outfield goals than any other Premier League player in the current campaign.
