Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan took to social media on Wednesday night to react to Liverpool FC’s impressive 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Reds booked their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition with a solid victory in Germany thanks to Sadio Mane’s double and Virgil van Dijk’s header.

Liverpool FC have now joined Manchester United in the draw for the quarter-finals, which is due to take place on Friday morning.

Manchester United sealed their spot in the Champions League with a fine 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 last week.

And Red Devils assistant boss Phelan was clearly impressed by Liverpool FC’s win in Germany on Wednesday night as he took to social media to offer his reaction to the game.

Phelan wrote on Twitter after the game: “Well… European football is alive and well up and down the M62 #NorthernPowerhouse 💪🏼.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Reds are second in the table as they look to try and catch Manchester City in the race for the title with eight games left to play.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in FA Cup action this weekend when they take on Wolves in the quarter-finals of the cup competition.
