Jose Mourinho opens up about Mo Salah at Liverpool FC
Jose Mourinho explains why he thinks Mo Salah has been in good form for Liverpool FC of late
Jose Mourinho believes that Mohamed Salah is a “much stronger” and “confident” player at Liverpool FC than when he was at Chelsea FC.
The Egypt international has been earning rave reviews for his form for Liverpool FC since signing for the Reds from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.
Salah was voted as the PFA player of the year last season following his fantastic form for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and he has been in top form this term as well.
The 26-year-old has scored 17 goals and made seven assists in 29 Premier League games for Klopp’s men to help them mount a serious Premier League title challenge.
It is all a far cry from Salah’s struggles at Chelsea FC, where he failed to make much of an impact before he was eventually shipped off to AS Roma.
And former Chelsea FC boss Mourinho believes that Salah has clearly improved a great deal physically since his days at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in an interview with beIN Sports, Mourinho said when asked why Salah struggled at Chelsea FC: “Mentality, fitness and adaptation to a new reality.
“He arrived in Chelsea coming from Basel a lonely boy, a naive boy, completely out of context, physically fragile.
“Then he goes to Italy and has the experience of Fiorentina and the experience of Rome, when he comes back to England he comes completely adapted to the high level of European football with more understanding of the game, physically much stronger.
“[At Liverpool FC] you can see in his body and his fitness that he is much stronger, much more confident.”
Salah was unable to help Liverpool FC to find the breakthrough against Everton on Sunday afternoon as the Reds had to settle for a goalless draw at Goodison Park.
The Reds will return to Premier League action on Sunday with a home clash against Burnley.
